Outdoor Advertising

Outdoor gear has to hold up to wind, rain and UV, so it uses heavier frames and weighted bases rather than light indoor hardware. The range covers feather, teardrop and rectangle flags, marquees and food booths, market umbrellas and inflatables.

Good communication. Very helpful. The product we ordered is as we anticipated. A canvas bag was included, along with Velcro tape for installation. Overall, it was an excellent experience. We are very happy with the result and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Flags or a marquee, which should I buy first? +
A marquee, if you need shelter or somewhere to stand; flags if you only need to be seen from the road. The Heavy Duty Fabric Canopy Tent 3m W x 3m H covers you and your stock but only reads from directly in front, so most stallholders end up with one marquee and two or three feather flags. Start with the marquee, because sun and rain will end your trading day faster than poor visibility will.
How is this different from Trade Show Backdrops & Display Walls? +
Everything here is built for weather; nothing in Trade Show Backdrops & Display Walls is. Indoor tension frames use thin aluminium and unweighted feet, so a 3m fabric wall used on grass goes over in the first gust and the fabric fades outdoors in a season. If you need branding at an outdoor event, buy from this collection. Keep the indoor walls for halls at ICC Sydney or BCEC and for marquee interiors out of the wind.
Which flag shape reads best from a moving car? +
Teardrop. The Teardrop Fabric Flag keeps the fabric taut against the pole so the shape stays readable when there is no wind, which is when feather flags collapse into a vertical strip. Feather flags give more printable height and cost less, so they suit a row along a fence line. Rectangle flags hold the most copy but need real wind to open. Keep the message to three words at any size.
How do I stop a marquee lifting in wind? +
Weight every leg, every time. Four Sand Bags on the footplates is the minimum on hard surfaces, and pegs plus guy ropes on grass. A 3m x 3m marquee has around 9 square metres of roof, so it behaves like a sail once the wind gets under one side; drop the leg height and remove the sidewalls rather than leaving them to catch air. Many councils and market organisers now require weights and will inspect.
Do inflatables need a generator? +
They need continuous mains power, not a one-off inflation. The Inflatable Tube Man with Constant Air Supply runs a blower the whole time it is up, so plan a 10 amp outlet or a generator with capacity to spare. Leads and the blower must be test-and-tagged to AS/NZS 3760 at most public events. Budget for someone to watch it, because an inflatable that loses power lies across a walkway within a minute.
Will the printed fabric fade in Australian sun? +
Slowly, and reds go first. Dye-sublimated polyester holds colour well because the dye sits inside the fibre, but months of direct summer UV will lift the darkest tones. Expect a flag flown every weekend to look tired sooner than one used a few times a year. Store it dry and out of light between events, and choose artwork with strong shapes rather than fine gradients so ageing is less obvious.
Can I run a food stall out of one of these tents? +
Yes, and the 4.5m x 3m or 6m x 3m Fabric Food Booth Canopy Tent is the right shape for it because the serving counter runs along the long side. Check your local council's temporary food premises rules first, since most require a solid floor covering and a hand wash setup, and some ask about fire retardancy for the canopy. Add the Transparent Waterproof Canopy Cover if you trade through rain.
How do I order flags and marquee printing together? +
Order the hardware and the printed covers as one job so the graphics match across the stall. Send your logo and the event name to support@backdropsource.com.au or phone +61 7 3053 8668, and we will lay out each flag and canopy panel to its own template. Artwork assistance and a 2D mockup before printing cost nothing. Delivery is free to any address in Australia, and frames and poles carry a 1-year warranty.
