Frequently Asked Questions

Which table size do I measure for? +
Measure the actual table, not the nominal size. Trestle tables in Australian venues are commonly 1.8m x 750mm and 1.2m x 750mm at around 730mm high, but hire stock varies by a few centimetres and a stretch cover is unforgiving about it. Take length, width and height with a tape and send all three. For a round table, measure the diameter across the top and the height to the floor separately.
Stretch, fitted or standard, which do I buy? +
Stretch if it will be photographed, standard if it will be lived on. A stretch cover pulls tight over the legs with no folds, so logos sit flat and the table reads as furniture, but it needs the right size and it shows every bump underneath. A standard loose cover drapes over any table roughly that size and hides a multitude, including whatever you have stored under there. Fitted sits between the two.
Will the print wrap around the sides or only the top? +
Both, and you should plan for it. The cover is printed as one piece before it is sewn, so artwork can run over the edge and down the front. Put the logo on the front drop at roughly knee to chest height, because the top surface disappears under laptops, brochures and elbows within an hour of doors opening. Keep anything critical at least 50mm inside the seams.
How do I get the creases out on site? +
Hang it overnight and most of them drop out. The fabric is wrinkle-resistant polyester rather than linen, so fold marks relax on their own once the cover is on the table and the room warms up. If you need it sharp immediately, a handheld steamer held 100mm away works. Do not press a hot iron onto a printed face. Roll rather than fold the cover for transport when you have room.
Can I wash them? +
Yes. Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, no bleach and no fabric softener. Line dry in shade rather than tumble drying, because heat is what sets a permanent crease into polyester. Dye-sublimation puts the ink inside the fibre rather than on top of it, so colour does not crack or peel with washing, and a cover that collects a wine spill every function will keep going.
What is a convertible cover, and what is a runner for? +
A convertible cover changes footprint, so one cover works on a 1.8m trestle and folds down to serve a 1.2m table, which saves buying two. A runner is a printed strip down the centre or over the front of a plain cover, and it is the cheapest way to brand a hired table you did not choose. The Table Top Banner is different again, being a small standing display for the tabletop.
How does this compare to a fabric display counter? +
A cover dresses a table you already have or hire, while a counter is furniture you own. Covers are cheaper, pack into a satchel, and suit registration desks and market stalls where the venue supplies trestles. A counter from the Custom Trade Show Counters & Podiums range stands about 1m high, hides storage inside and looks purpose-built. Plenty of stands run both, with a counter at the front and a covered trestle behind it.
