When is a shaped frame worth paying for over a straight wall? +

When the display has to be seen from more than one direction, or the photo of it is the point. A straight 3m wall gives you the most graphic area for the money and nothing beats it as a backing wall inside a shell scheme. Pay for a shape when you are on an island or peninsula stand where people walk around you, or when the set is being photographed all night at an event.

How is this different from the Tension Fabric Backdrop Walls collection? +

That collection holds the flat and gently curved walls; this one holds everything that is not a rectangle. If your brief is a back wall for a 3m x 3m stand, a straight or curved frame from Tension Fabric Backdrop Walls is cheaper per square metre and easier to reprint. Come here when the outline itself carries the branding, such as a cone, a tower, a crescent or a kite. The frames build the same way.

Do shaped covers wrinkle more than flat ones? +

Yes, around tight curves, and it is a seam issue rather than a fabric fault. A cover has to be panelled to follow a curve, so on a crescent or heart the tension pulls unevenly at the inside of the bend and you get soft ripples until you work the seams into the frame. Zip the bottom fully closed first, then pull down and out from the tightest radius. Ripples also relax in a warm hall.

How do I design artwork so the shape does not cut off my logo? +

Keep type and logos inside a safe area 100mm in from every edge and away from the narrow points. A star or crown has tips where the fabric wraps around the frame, so anything placed there disappears over the edge. Set the mark in the widest part of the silhouette and let colour and pattern run to the outline. A free 2D mockup shows you the wrap before it is printed, which is when it is cheap to move.

Are tall shapes like the cone and tower stable on their own? +

Yes to about 3m with the supplied base, and above that they want ballast. A Tall Cone Advertising Display or Trade Show Tower Display has a small footprint by design, so the taller it goes the more a passing trolley or a door draught matters. Weight the base with sandbags or a water base, keep it out of the main aisle line, and never rely on the graphic cover to add rigidity.

How long does a shaped display take to build? +

Two people and 30 to 45 minutes for most of them, longer than a straight wall of the same size. The frame sections are numbered because a curve only closes one way, so laying every piece out on the floor before you start saves more time than it costs. Round units like the 360° Branding Round Backdrop take the longest because you dress them from both sides. Do a dry build in the office first.

Can I use a shaped display indoors and outdoors? +

Indoors freely, outdoors only with weight and a weather eye. A solid printed cover is effectively a sail, and a 2.4m arch will move in a 30km/h gust even with sandbags, which is why marquee-adjacent setups need staking or heavy ballast at every foot. For an exposed site, either bring the display inside the marquee or look at a mesh fabric that lets air through instead of catching it.

Can you build a shape that is not in the range, and how do I start? +

Yes, send a sketch or a photo with the finished height and width written on it and we will tell you whether the curve is achievable in tube.
